Library
The primary purpose of the Catholic Memorial Library High School is to engage students in the use of print and digital resources in order to support the instructional program of Catholic Memorial High School. This mission happens in collaboration with teachers in the development of a quality collection of print and digital resources. Over 11,000 books are available in the library, with particularly strong collections found in theology and history. In addition, a fully equipped computer lab is available as part of the library to provide online resources for students and staff.
The library is open from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. on Fridays.
Instruction
During the first semester of the 2008-2009 school year, the library staff has focused on working with teachers to support classroom learning. The librarian and teachers have collaborated on a unit of study on human populations and their effect on the environment, assisted the business classes as they composed resumes and prepared power points for class presentation, and completed a unit on The Crucible, using print and digital resources. In addition, book talks were given to the freshman and sophomore classes from the list of reading choices selected for their class level.
